Why Hire Attorney John M. Cromwell?
Experience, Dedication and Hard Work
When you hire The Law Office of John M. Cromwell, you will secure the help of an experienced White Plains criminal defense attorney who cares about you and will always treat you with dignity and respect. I was born and raised in the Bronx and have dedicated my entire professional career - over 24 years - to defending people accused of crimes.
During that time, I have resolved thousands of criminal cases from murder charges to traffic tickets and I know how to help you avoid conviction. In some cases, this requires sticking up for your rights by aggressively confronting a prosecutor, a cop, a witness, or even a judge in a courtroom. In other cases, it takes quiet negotiation to resolve your case favorably. Whatever your situation calls for, you and I are partners with the same goal: to help you avoid conviction and move past your charges so that you can get back to your life with your family, your job, and your community.
During my time attending the highly esteemed University of Wisconsin, I realized that I wanted to work directly with people on a one-on-one basis. After working in a program where law students were allowed to represent needy defendants in criminal court on misdemeanor charges, I knew that I wanted to work in criminal defense. Since that time, I have strived to gain a full understanding of criminal law in order to provide each client with the full protection of the law. I work tirelessly with the hope that I might bring about the release of a fellow human being from behind bars, and have dedicated my entire career to this cause.
Compassionate Help for Your Time of Need
Of course, only a fraction of criminal cases go to trial. In many cases, I have relished the accomplishment of using diligent investigatory work and preparation to get charges dismissed at the Grand Jury stage, or to expose evidence that resulted in a prosecutor dismissing charges against a client, or being able to bring to light mitigating circumstances which convinced a prosecutor or a judge to give my client a sentence of probation or attendance at a rehabilitation job training, drug and alcohol, or mental health program, thereby avoiding a lengthy jail sentence.
During my years in practice, I have represented clients in Nassau County, Suffolk County, Westchester County, and all five boroughs of New York City. I am an active member of the Bronx County Bar Association, Criminal Courts Committee, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York State Defenders Association and the Assigned Counsel Panel, First Department.
I have been fortunate to find a career where I can follow my passion, helping individuals from all walks of life preserve their freedom and future in the face of dire consequences. It is the level of passion and commitment that you must look for in your criminal defense lawyer. Call me at any time to discuss your case and the right defense strategy for you.
